quaff SHAKE YOUR BOOTY! Review

SHAKE YOUR BOOTY! is the latest release by quaff. I enjoyed listening to this album a lot and below I wrote my opinions on what I thought of each song. Enjoy!

The opening song Destiny-00 tells me already I am going to like this album. It's a great introduction and makes me anxious to hear more. I love the beat and the flute solo.

ドラゴンファイヤァ(Dragonfire) is an energy filled song with a fast paced rhythm. I couldn't help but want to bounce along to it.

The opening to Shake Your Booty! excited me! I couldn't help but smile when listening to this song. It's so full of happiness and energy. It draws you in and almost makes you feel like your apart of a party. You can't help but feel so good when listening.

While the first three tracks are upbeat 無言の約束 (Mugon no Yakusoku) is a slower paced ballad. The vocals are gentle yet powerful. The song goes on in a steady flow with strong guitar riffs breaking in a few times. I really love the ending how the guitar solo and the drums remain then the guitar fades out and drums remain.

Another softer track is More Than Blue. I love the sound/voice effects and the two different types of vocals mixed together. Once again the vocals are soft yet powerful but don't copy the same feel as the ones in 無言の約束 (Mugon no Yakusoku). They are unique and give this song a different feel.

The upbeatness returns with サイハラの都 (Saihara no Miyako). The vocals immediately reminded me of those in Kurabe. I like the mix of traditional Japanese and rock.

SUPPONPON has a very traditional Japanese music feel to it with a rocking guitar riff. I love the flute that you can hear throughout the song. The MC'ing really completes the song.

I'm on Your Side has a positive feel to it. While listening to it I started to imagine the band having a great time recording this track. It's just so energetic and fun.

I like the opening guitar solo for Real Approach. The entire song is very catchy and I found myself wanting to sing along but being that it's my first time listening to it I don't know the words yet LOL.

GPKISM & Seileen at The Bootleg Theater Live Report

Starting off their US tour in LA at the Bootleg Theater; Seileen and GPKISM certainly put on a wonderful show. While the venue was interesting- to say the least- I'm sure all the fans were extremely happy to be able to see GPKISM back and also to welcome Seileen! After a short wait outside (for my friends and I at least) the fans were let into the venue around 9:30. The venue itself was really nice, with a table set up for merchandise which was sold after the concert. The crowd was very friendly and oddly enough, relaxed (as opposed to me who was freaking out). Thankfully we didn't have long to wait for the show to start, I was so excited when the music began playing.

Opening the night; DJ SiSeN was more than ready to hype up the crowd with his dancers. The stage was a bit small compared to the Knitting Factory, but everyone still put on a great show. It's hard to describe SiSeN on stage, but he was really energetic like always and had fun playing with the crowd. Surprisingly, the fans I could see from the front seemed to be less enthusiastic, as opposed to all of the crazy dancers in the back.

Afterwards it was time to welcome Seileen for their first ever US concert! Starting off, I wasn't sure how I would react to Seileen; I had heard a little bit of Selia, but not too much. However, Selia's voice- and appearance- quickly captivated the crowd and me. I didn't know any of the songs that they played, but after the show I ended up looking them up and I really enjoy them. I can't remember the line up, (since I didn't really learn the names of the songs till after the concert -.-') but trust me; Selia and SiSeN make a fantastic team! Their style of music is a work of art by itself and it's definitely unique!
