Interview with LUCY

Nice to see you LUCY-san!! Thank you very much for doing an interview with us.

1. Would you please introduce yourselves and what instruments you use to our readers?

I am Sakaki, the vocalist.

I am Kent, the guitarist. My instrument is a seven-string SCHECTER guitar. My amp is a MESA/BOOGIE

I am Hiromi, the guitarist. My instrument is a PRS CE mahogany24BK guitar. My amp is Hughes & Kettner Triamp MK2. My effector is a ROCKTRON INTELLIFEX XOTIC RC Booster.

I am Taisuke, the bassist. My basses are Crews Maniac Sound, JB-Modern2005 and LANDSCAPE's SWING BASS ARTIST AVC upright bass.

I am Ren, the drummer. My drum set is almost all Pearl's: snares, bass drum, pedal, hardware, and so on. I also use REMO's Rototom and head. My sticks are Regal Tips.

2 Would you tell us about your musical experience? How long have you been playing? And how did you decide to play?

Sakaki: There wasn't a vocalist in my first band, so I had to start singing. I have been singing for about 5 or 6 years.

Kent: I longed to be in Visual kei. So I have been playing about 10 years or so.

Hiromi: Finding a guitar at my friend's house and trying to play it was the trigger. About 10 years.

Taisuke: It was a fatality. My first instrument was the bass. It has been about 10 years.

Ren: I was introduced to drums because of my friend. But after I joined LUCY I started playing seriously.

3.  Have you ever tried other instruments before?

Sakaki: I have tried a stringed instrument. But the microphone I find is instinctively better for me.

Kent: I've tried them all. I like drums but I cannot play them.

Hiromi: My very best is the guitar. I want to try more instruments, though. Also I would like to try harp or those kinds of stringed instruments.

Taisuke: I can play the guitar a little.

Ren: I tried the guitar. I only remembered Key of F, so I failed.

4. How did you get together?

All members: We met at a band member recruitment site.

5. Who is your band leader？

All members: We have no leader.

6. Who mainly composes the music?

All members: Mainly Kent and Hiromi. But we put all of our ideas together, then JAM and discuss it.

7. How about lyrics?

Sakaki writes all the lyrics.

8. Who is your favorite musician? Which band was your trigger to start playing?

Sakaki: I was influenced by HIDE' s visual style.

Kent: I like Perfume. My triggers are BOOWY or X and so on.

Hiromi: I like INORAN. My trigger was L'Arc-en-Ciel.

Taisuke: I have so many favorites. But my trigger was X.

Ren: I like emo, screamo or those kinds of music. And my trigger was X.

9. What message is in your sound? Or if there is a theme in your music, please tell us about it.

All members: Our 1^st.single 『Discord』 shows not hope, but despair. And 2^nd. Single 『The disorderly world』shows the world LUCY is in and the view that we see.

11. When will your next CD or DVD be released?

All members: We haven't decided any details yet, but we hope to release it this year.

1. What is your favorite food? And what food is impossible to eat for you?

Sakaki: Hot, sweet, bitter, any foods are fine for me. But I dislike the things "I can't eat even if I boil or grill it." (Note: In Japanese, this is slang for useless people).

Kent: I have no notion "like" or "dislike".

Hiromi: I like mushrooms. I don't dislike it, but I cannot eat Soba because I'm allergic to it.

Taisuke: I like foods that I can gorge on. But I can't eat celery.

Ren: I like delicious food. I have so many foods that I dislike.

2. How do you spend your free time, if you have a few days off?

Sakaki: If I have a few days, I'd like to go to a Spa. If it one day off, I sleep.

Kent: I'd like to rest in the mountains.

Hiromi: If it one day off, I'd want to go to musical instrument shops, or look for clothes and rest at a café. If I can take a few days I want to go back to my hometown or take a trip somewhere else I can relax.

Taisuke: Just spend my time sleeping. Maybe I'd go back to my parents' house, or go somewhere I can relax at.

Ren: I don't go out.

3. What is your specialty (except music), or what is your hobby?

Sakaki: My hobby is finding new bars. And I am good at rough drawing.

Kent: Readings comics.

Hiromi: I can play soccer. When I was in school, it was my club activity. I also take walks with my dog.

Taisuke: I'm a good snowboarder.

Ren: I have no specialties. My hobby is anything fun.

4. What type of girls do you like? And are there any chances for a fan to to be your girlfriend?

Sakaki: It's not only looks. A girl who has a strong look in her eye or a beautiful attitude.

Kent: A girl who is meek and mild. The chance is infinity.

Hiromi: A girl is refined, straight and mild. Perhaps there is a chance.

Taisuke: A girl who has a charming personality. Short hair that suits her, as well. I think there is a chance.

Ren: A charming girl, for me, is elegant. No challenges, no chances.

5. Where do you want to go when you have a date (except your house)?

Sakaki: (laugh) To tell you the truth, I'm lowbrow. I'd want to go to an amusement park. I don't like double dates. So any places to spend time together are fine for me.

Kent: Mexico.

Hiromi: Shopping, have dinner and rest at a café.

Taisuke: Shopping or just hanging out together.

Ren: Disneyland

6.What presents make you happy? What present has surprised you the most?

Sakaki: Snake goods or handmade gateau chocolate, maybe.

Kent: Tobacco or accessories. I was surprised to have been given Isobeyaki (grilled rice cake wrapped in seaweed and dipped in soy sauce)

Hiromi: Tobacco, clothes, accessories. I was surprised with an ashtray. It was printed with LUCY's logo. I was also happy to be given a Roen's T-shirt..

Taiuke: Tobacco, birthday presents or so.

Ren: I was also surprised with the ashtray.

7. What type of girls or boys do you dislike?

Sakaki: "But," Well," The people who don't say things like that. If they don't hear me, I can't communicate.

Kent: Crazy people who don't understand atmosphere.

Hiromi: Coarse women. Thoughtless men.

Taisuke: Those give me lip but don't follow up (Editor's Note: I think he means people who are all talk, but no action ^^; ).

Ren: Coarse people.

8. When was your first love, and who grabbed your heart？

Sakaki: I think we were preschool students. I've heard she's a model now.

Kent: Miss Yamada. We were elementary school students.

Hiromi: A classmate at preschool.

Taisuke: A classmate at elementary school.

Ren: Always I feel like it's my first love.

9. Do you have a steady now?

Sakaki: I write lyrics, so somebody is always in my notebooks. But basically, my life is aloof.

Kent: LUCY fans are my lovers.

Hiromi: NO.

Taisuke: So many fans.

Ren; Everything I love are my lovers.

10. What perfume do you use?

Sakaki: CAROLINA HERRERA  212 lady's or ANNNA SUI

Kent: 212 and Samurai woman

Hiromi: DIAMOND DAZZLE、JAGUAR

Taisuke: I mixed BVLGARI pour home pour Femme.

Ren: Ferragamo incanto

11. Do you believe in fortunetelling? How about destined meetings?

Sakaki: I think it is destiny for me to meet the members of our audiences.

Kent: Yes. All things are destiny.

Hiromi: I don't believe in fortunetelling, but maybe destiny can be real.

Taisuke: I don't believe in fortunetelling. Everything is from destiny.

Ren: If the fortunetelling will be correct, I'll believe it. All meetings are destined.

12. This is the last question. Will you leave a message for your fans?

Sakaki: Light and darkness are eternal fascinations. We hold you by our view, attitude, and sound that cannot be imitated by other bands. Why don't you come and join us at the live house?

Kent: We are LUCY, not only human beings, but also a band. Please love us.

Hiromi: Please enjoy LUCY's sound and space.

Taisuke: Please feel LUCY.

Ren: I wish that Lucy will stay in your heart.
