Interview with The Glams

1. Thank you very much for doing an interview with us. Would you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Nice to see you. I am SHOW, the vocalist.
Nice to see you. I am YOU the bassist.

2. How did you get together?
SHOW: We're friends. But when I asked YOU to support my solo work, he said "Well how about we make a band?" So we made it.

3. Who is your band leader?
SHOW: Formally, I am.

4. Who composes music mainly?
SHOW: I do, for the moment. But I pin my hopes on YOU. (smile)
YOU: (smile)

5. How about poems?
SHOW: At present, I write them all.

6. Have you ever tried playing other instruments before?
Both of us can play the guitar, bass and drums.

7. Who is your favorite musician?
SHOW: The overseas artists that I like are GooGooDolls and Slipknot. Japanese artists that I like are MONORAL and HIDE(X-Japan)
YOU: For me, Mr.BIG, BON JOVI, and THE BEATLES are my favorite foreign artists. I also like the Japanese artists YOHKO KANNO, May'n, and JAM PROJECT.

8. Can you tell us about your instruments? Do you have an instrument or equipment/materials that you want to get in the future?
SHOW: Recently I've been using a Bacchus Surf guitar as my main guitar. Its scale is longer than usual guitars. I like its deep sound with thick strings. As a substitute second guitar, I also use an older Gretch guitar, the Duo Jet "G6128T". I like the vintage-like sound of it, and when I use this guitar in new-sounding songs, I can make The GLAMS sound that wont be influenced by trend. I'm looking for an effector right now, but I like LINE6 Effectors.

YOU: At present I use a Warwick Streamer Stage 5-string with oil finish
This is the standard model Streamer Stage from Warwick in Germany. It has 5 strings and a neck-through style. It has a 3band EO for active circuit. It can switch to active or passive by the volume control's pull or the down switch. This model has narrow pitch between the strings so the sound of the middle position is unique, deep and heavy.
For effects, I use an ESB MultiCompressor.
This is the compact Effector. It's good for a wide range of sounds, and is used by a lot of bassists.

9. What message is in your sound?
YOU: Please ask SHOW. In previous songs we placed a special emphasis on telling the audiences about GLAMS until now. So we discovered something and also improved our sense, I think... I guess we show it could be worse in the future.

SHOW: I compose most of the songs now, so I'll answer. The theme is ｢Antiwar｣. I tried to express some of the angles: ｢The thing that starts a war｣｢Someone involved in the war.｣｢Someone's treasure is stolen｣｢Someone stole somebody's treasure｣｢Someone who loves someone.｣｢Someone who is loved by someone.｣ But finally, all of them connect to ｢antiwar, peace, and love｣

11. Your costume and performance are so unique. Would you like it if the fans dressed up as you?
SHOW: I'd be happy to see the fans dress up like me . But if the fans want to dress the same as me, I'll dress naked to the waist (laugh)

YOU: We're not sticklers for costumes, we just try to dress casually but smartly. So I am happy to see that the fans like me honestly.

12. Your activities range from not only music, but fashion designing and modeling as well. Are you planning any other activities?
SHOW:I have my own jewelry brand「GUILTY」. I would like to collaborate with it. I am looking forward to expanding the business from just jewelry to clothes and other things. It'll take some time, but it is one of my hobbies ♪
YOU: Personally, I'd like to play in a much wider music scene. From there, the style of -THE GLAMS- could be taken by many people. It could be interesting. But right now, we need to step up.

1. What is your favorite food?
SHOW: Chocolate.

YOU: Smoked chicken.

2. How do you spend your free time?
SHOW: I sleep, when I have the time.

YOU: Drink some coffee, play the bass, have some beer, and go to bed.

3. What is your specialty, except music?
SHOW: Making things (not just jewelry or furniture).
You: Cooking and skiing.

4. What type of girls or boys do you like?
SHOW: The type of girl I like has beautiful voice and her behavior is elegant. The boy is a rock guy.
YOU: My ideal girl is Ryoko Hirosue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryoko_Hirosue) The boy who has his own world.

5. Where would you want to go on a date?
SHOW: The dream land (It has many meanings)
YOU: Onsen

6. What presents make you happy?

SHOW: A man's idea of romance: A girl wrapping herself in a ribbon and saying, ｢My present is me ♪｣ (laugh)

YOU: A cask of wine.

7. What type of girls or boys do you dislike?
SHOW: Both girls and boys have no manners.

YOU: Girls who have no opinion, and boys who have too many opinions.

8. When is your first love, and who grabbed your heart？
SHOW: I was in love when I was four years old. I wrote a love letter to a girl ｢Tomomi｣ to propose her, I think. (laugh)

You: My preschool classmate, Satsuki. The preschool had a nap time so she and I usually kissed in the time. I also liked a girl, Sayaka, as well. (laugh)

9. Do you have a steady now?
SHOW: If you ignite my heart, soon I'll be in love with you.
YOU: NO.

10. What is your perfume?
SHOW:I changed it to CHANEL recently.
YOU: Bulgari black. Only occasionally.

11. This is the last question. Will you give a message to your fans?
SHOW: We're in a ship on the huge ocean. Maybe in the future, a storm will come. Maybe in the future, we'll find a new island. If possible, I'd like to sail with my ｢family｣ to share impressions and emotions. Please support us. Until -THE GLAMS- will be the light to guide you.
