GPKISM & Seileen at The Bootleg Theater Live Report

Starting off their US tour in LA at the Bootleg Theater; Seileen and GPKISM certainly put on a wonderful show. While the venue was interesting- to say the least- I'm sure all the fans were extremely happy to be able to see GPKISM back and also to welcome Seileen! After a short wait outside (for my friends and I at least) the fans were let into the venue around 9:30. The venue itself was really nice, with a table set up for merchandise which was sold after the concert. The crowd was very friendly and oddly enough, relaxed (as opposed to me who was freaking out). Thankfully we didn't have long to wait for the show to start, I was so excited when the music began playing.

Opening the night; DJ SiSeN was more than ready to hype up the crowd with his dancers. The stage was a bit small compared to the Knitting Factory, but everyone still put on a great show. It's hard to describe SiSeN on stage, but he was really energetic like always and had fun playing with the crowd. Surprisingly, the fans I could see from the front seemed to be less enthusiastic, as opposed to all of the crazy dancers in the back.

Afterwards it was time to welcome Seileen for their first ever US concert! Starting off, I wasn't sure how I would react to Seileen; I had heard a little bit of Selia, but not too much. However, Selia's voice- and appearance- quickly captivated the crowd and me. I didn't know any of the songs that they played, but after the show I ended up looking them up and I really enjoy them. I can't remember the line up, (since I didn't really learn the names of the songs till after the concert -.-') but trust me; Selia and SiSeN make a fantastic team! Their style of music is a work of art by itself and it's definitely unique!

Follow up:

To end the night, the fans eagerly cheered GPKISM on stage! As soon as Kiwamu and Prince Ken walked on stage the crowd started cheering loudly. Before they started Kiwamu tried hard to make his announcements over the fans, but Prince Ken seemed to enjoy hyping up the crowd during this time- making it VERY hard to focus on the "salesman" Kiwamu. Anyway, after Kiwamu told us about the merchandise that would be on sale after the show they started up! Looking around the crowd you could see that everyone was excited to be welcoming these guys back. Many fans were singing along... including myself, but how can you not want to sing along with Prince Ken!?

As the night went on Kiwamu was a total crowd pleaser- playing at the edge of the stage so all his fans could touch his guitar. While Ken moved back and forth making sure all his fans could see him. The crowd was really enthusiastic as they played, but as soon as Infernum started playing the crowd really started jumping around and having a great time.

For an extra special treat, Prince Ken invited Selia on stage to perform Angelus from GPKISM's new CD Iudicium. The duet was nothing less than spectacular! Ken and Selia's voices were a great match; and their outfits as well, black and white, it was perfect! I could tell the fans enjoyed it, and for me I couldn't turn away!

For their final song, GPKISM invited everyone back on stage... they kind of lost SiSeN for a bit though. (No worries though, they found him really quickly! ^^) Now with a stage full of dancers, GPKISM started singing Abaddon, which is personally one of my favorite songs, but to make a beautiful song even prettier Selia added a special touch as DJ SiSeN and Kiwamu both joined in. It was the perfect song to end the night with!

If you didn't get a chance to go to this years show, I would definitely recommend trying next time they come. Seileen and GPKISM made a wonderful compilation tour and I hope we will be able to see more of them in the future!

I had the esteemed pleasure of seeing GPKism and Seileen in Philadelphia. This is my second time seeing GPKism and again, they were nothing less than incredible!! Fabulous music from Kiwamu combined with the beautiful vocals of GPK make for an evening never to be forgotten. I am really looking forward to their next US tour! <3

I was at the LA show as well (kiwamu directed me to this write up) and I had the most fun doing my own thing in the back. However, as soon as kiwamu started gesturing for us to all come in closer, it was like a moth to the flame. I couldn't get close enough!

I've been to most of the LA shows featuring darkest labyrinth bands and I always leave very happy. The fans are, for the majority, polite and fun. The bands always set the stage on fire. And the staff try to do their job to the best of their ability.

The only downer of the evening was, no pictures (which was a first), the drunk mosher at the front, and kiwamu's guitar amp issues. But if that's the worst of the worst, then we're doing ok!

Ps did you get some chocolate in line?
